After more than four years of work on the new ZEN microarchitecture for its x86 processors, in the beginning of 2017, AMD is back to try to conquer the high-end segment. AMD presents its new heavy weapons with a state-of-the-art processor design named RYZEN. These processors incorporate massive performance improvements in all ways, meaning that AMD s Ryzen quad-core, hexa-core and octa-core CPUs outperform their predecessors and combine innovative features with a pioneering platform, as well as leading-edge I/O interfaces. AMD s new Zen architecture is so flexible and versatile that it can be installed on high-end desktop platforms as well as mainstream APUs using integrated graphics and allowing processors to scale from high-performance data center servers to the end. AMD ZEN – THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE FUTURE The AMD Ryzen 5 2400G is a new generation Summit Ridge processor with four logical CPU cores that, thanks to Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), is capable of processing two threads at a time in each core. The quad-core model runs at a clock rate of 3.6 GHz which, thanks to the implementation of Precision Boost, performs real-time optimization according to processor performance demands. The chip architecture also produces less heat and operates quieter than any of its predecessors and is specially designed and optimized to work with high clock frequencies. These optimizations are due in part to drastic improvements in power efficiency and 65 watts of thermal design power (TDP) from the CPU cores.
